MARIE OLDFIELD

Marie Oldfield CStat CSci FIScT is the Founding Director of Oldfield Consultancy, a global consultancy in analytical modelling and ethical artificial intelligence. With her background in statistics, analytics and philosophy she has established herself as a leader in this field. Marie is a trusted advisor to UK Government, The Ministry of Defence and Legal Practice. Marie’s work is highly interdisciplinary and she now works at the forefront of Ethical AI, driving improvement and development.

 Marie is a Fellow and Executive Board Member for the Institute of Science and Technology (IST), an Expert Fellow for Sprite+ and a member of the College of Peer Reviewers for Rephrain. She is Founder of the IST Artificial Intelligence Group, Founder of the IST Women in Tech Group and a Professional Chartership Assessor for the Science Council.  

 Marie frequently publishes and speaks on her AI and Ethics research. She has led research on areas such as anthropomorphism and dehumanisation in AI and Cyberspace in addition to pedagogy and modelling best practice. Moving forward, Marie endeavours to drive greater discussion about ethical implementation of AI technology in both academia and industry to ensure a more holistic and interdisciplinary approach, particularly around the crucial need to consider the effects on society.
